In our tribal communities, nutrition is directly linked to the health and well-being of our the community. The Nevada Cooperative Extension partnered with Barrick North America to introduce to the Western Shoshone communities, the Hoop House Project. The Hoop House Project provides opportunity for tribal members and community to develop hoop houses and grow traditional and nutritional foods supporting efforts of food sovereignty, economic development and cultural heritage. Today, many Hoop Houses exist in the Western Shoshone community and Barrick and the Cooperative Extension continue to partner in promoting food sovereignty, health and the tribal economy.
